사회과 선택중심 교육과정 실행에 관한 연구

이 연구의 목적은 제7차 교육과정에 새로이 도입된 선택중심 교육과정이 학교에서 실제로 어떻게 실행되고 있는지를 이해하는데 있다. 이 연구는 사례 연구로서, 사회과 선택과목 결정 과정에서 일어나는 관련 주체들 간의 상호작용의 의미를 심층적으로 이해하기 위하여, 한 공립 고등학교에서 학교 교육과정 편성 실무를 맡았던 교사에 대한 심층 면접을 통해 자료를 수집하였다.

연구 결과, 일선 학교에서는 제6차 교육과정 시기와 동일한 학교 여건 하에서 학생의 과목 선택권을 최대한 보장하기 위해서 학교 지정 과목이라는 하위 정책을 활용하였다. 학교 지정 과목의 선정과 학년 배정 및 이수 단위 수 등은 교과별 협의회를 통해 교과 담당 교사의 의견을 충분히 수렴하여 결정되었으며, 학교 교육과정 편성 과정은 학생, 학부모, 교사들에게 충분히 안내되고 공개되었다. 그러나 이 과정에서 선택중심 교육과정의 중요한 취지 중 하나인 학기당 이수 과목 수의 기준은 포기되었다.

The purpose of this qualitative case study is to understand how the idea of high school selective-centered curriculum is applied in the social studies school curriculum. Data were collected through national curriculum documents, school curriculum documents, and in-depth interviews.

I set up two questions for this study; 1) how the high school selective-centered curriculums is organized in the school curriculum, and how the intention of revision is reflected in the social studies curriculum in school scene.

Through the data analysis, I found that 1) he(she) harmonized schooldesignating subjects and students-selecting subjects, 2) he(she) laid weight on keeping the balance of students' right to select subjects and demand and supply of teachers, and 3) he(she) decided school-designating subjects in the teacher meeting.

Through this study, I found how the idea of student selection-centered curriculum is applied in the social studies school curriculum. Teachers satisfied the demands of national curriculum successively in their judgement.

Finally I suggest that more and more study on practical knowledge of teachers.
