ABSTRACT
In a coming society, it is anticipated that intramural physical activities students spontaneously participate in after school would be increased. These activities would provide students with an opportunity that makes them reco- gnize the value of the somatic activity such as the health improvement, the development of exer- cise skills and sociability. In addition, eliciting their interest in sports, these promise opportu- nities to enjoy a leisure life through which students make use of much more time given to them after school.
Nonetheless, as for now, these activities, whose necessity would be increased in the long, tend to be managed to the very limited degree. It' s owing to the fact that even though the respective program has been implemented in schools, e.g., over- a half of elementary, middle, high level schools, it mainly focuses on the extension program of extra- curriculum or the development of a few students of school sports clubs . Moreover, the program and its manage- ment are so inferior that they could not be enacted as inner - school or inter - school compet - ition as seen in those of foreign countries.
Thus, this study purposes to investigate, analyse the condition necessary to intramural physical activities after school and develope an appropriate program model, and thus provide students with more opportunities for their participation in intramural physical activities and with the basic framework for a participation in life- long physical activities.
According to the purpose, this study has developed a respective program model, and it is as follows ;
First, the purpose of the program would focus on a health improvement of students, a development of physical activity skills and sociability, and an education of an ability to make good use of leisure, For these, the program is developed in the direction that physical activities would be happened naturally in everyday life through leading students into a spontaneous participation in the activities.
Second, the organization is managed by a committee for extra- curricular physical act ivities, and its actual tasks are implemented primarily by a teacher who takes charge of phy- sical education after school.
Third, this program should provide students with diverse contents appropriate for development stages in order to satisfy the various needs from students.
Fourth, this program should give its efforts to a restructuring work of the existed sports. It would b e especially import ant for much more students to be given with opportunities of participation and to experience some success.
Fifth, according to the contents of a program and the development stages of students, various organizations of a team for this program need to be set up.
Sixth, the program should be managed season by season and lead students ' ongoing participation with maintaining their interest and attention.
