한국지리 교과서에서 사용되고 있는 지형 관련 용어에 대한 재검토

고등학교 한국지리 교과서에서 사용되고 있는 지형 관련 용어 중 상당수는 적합하지 않다는 지적을 받아왔다. 이러한 용어는 대부분 지리학계에서 오래 전부터 사용되지 않고 있거나 용어 자체의 문자적 의미로 인해 가질 수 있는 선입견 때문에 학생들에게 잘못 이해될 우려가 큰 것들이다. 필자는 재검토가 필요하다고 생각되는 지형 관련 용어들 가운데 대표적인 것 몇 개를 선택하여 문제점을 살펴보고, 나름대로의 대안을 제시하였다.

A good many of geomorphological terms in Korean geography textbooks for highschool students aren't suitable. Most of these terms aren't used in academic circle or are likely to be misunderstood by students because of preconceptions that are originated from the literal meanings of geomorphological terms themselves. I selected some of geomorphological terms that were necessary to reexamine, looked into the problems and suggested alternative ideas.
